Guides on goal-setting, OKRs, and SMART goals.
45 practical guides for teams of 5 to 50: how to choose a framework, write goals people can act on, and keep them alive through the quarter.
New here? Start with these three.
One guide to the whole loop, and one for each of the two frameworks everything else in this library builds on.
Goal setting: the fundamentals
Start here if you're setting goals for a team for the first time, or replacing a process that quietly stopped working. These cover the loop end to end, and how to choose between the two frameworks the rest of this library is built on.
SMART goals
SMART is the shorter on-ramp: five criteria that turn a vague intention into a sentence you can actually check. It suits clear commitments and a shared definition of done, and suits ambitious stretch targets much less.
OKRs
OKRs pair one qualitative objective with a few measurable key results, and expect you to miss some of them on purpose. Better for direction and focus than for routine work: these cover writing them, scoring them, and the mistakes that sink a first quarter.
Team and company goals
Picking a framework is the easy part. Getting company, team, and individual goals to point the same way is the hard one: these work down that cascade, plus the quarterly session where you set it all.
Tracking and reviewing
A goal nobody looks at between kickoff and deadline isn't a goal, it's a wish. Here's the rhythm that keeps them alive: weekly check-ins, progress rollups that don't flatter, and a close-out review that isn't theatre.
Choosing a tool
Deliberately last: the tool is the smallest decision here, and the one that matters least until the rhythm works. These cover what this category costs, what free plans quietly leave out, when a spreadsheet is still the right answer, and where we are the wrong choice.
